Valve Overhaul Major Rulebook

Key changes made to the VRS model once again by Valve

Forfeits will now negatively impact ratings

Valve has introduced further changes to their VRS model in their pursuit of system improvements. Some changes aim to punish system abusers, while others focus on maintaining fair play.

Following are the key changes made:

  • Forfeits are now considered as losses and will negatively impact your rating

  • Tournament data will only be accounted once the tournament has been concluded.

  • Teams now only need 5 wins in ranked matches to obtain a VRS rank, instead of 10.

  • Club share earnings have been added to the model, which were not included before in case of ESL events.

It had been made abundantly clear with community protests that the VRS had several flaws that needed attention. It is a good sign that Valve has addressed the issues, and in the past week alone, made several adjustments to rectify those flaws.
