Monte sends Fluxo down to elimination
After contrasting performances in the openers, Monte and Fluxo met in the 0-1 match of the tournament. Monte had put up a fierce fight against FaZe, narrowly losing 16-14, while Fluxo suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of paiN, losing 16-2 in the regional derby.
The battleground for their encounter was Overpass, and from the start, Monte showcased why they were the top-seeded team from the Challengers stage. Securing the pistol round, they embarked on an impressive 8-round streak, dominating Fluxo. Although Fluxo managed to string together a 3-round streak, Monte swiftly regained control and closed the half with a commanding 12-3 lead.
The pistol round win for Monte spelt disaster for Fluxo as they trailed 15-3. However, with their backs against the wall and weapons in hand, Fluxo finally found some momentum, securing their fourth round with a well-executed flank through playground and connector.
Buoyed by this success, Fluxo built on their momentum, with WOOD7 showcasing his skills by holding strategic angles around Optimus to secure the A site and gain an advantage in terms of economy.
With everything on the line, zews' troops fought relentlessly, winning rounds one by one and narrowing the gap to 15-8. The match reached its climax in a tense 2v2 situation, where sdy managed to eliminate vsm and history, securing their first victory at the BLAST.tv Major Paris.
Monte will aim to build on their solid performances as they head into day 2, competing in the 1-1 bracket. Meanwhile, Fluxo, the most picked 0-3 team in the pickems, will strive to defy predictions and prove themselves in the upcoming elimination match.
