ATOX push TheMongolz to the limit

TheMongolz survive ATOX scare

ATOX pushed TheMongolz the the absolute limit in this 3 map series.

TheMongolz take on local rivals, ATOX in the IEM Sydney Asia Closed Qualifier. While TheMongolz is more adept at international CS, regional matchups can always throw a curveball.

Ancient was the first map of this lower bracket match and despite Yami's triple, TheMongolz started with a clean 3-0 lead. The newest additions, Mzinho's finally fell to Kabal's Tec-9 in round 5, but 910 continued his deathless streak and kept ATOX out of A. Mzinho's reign continued as he routed the ATOX attack round after round as he carried TheMongolz to 10-0.

Round 11 was bLitz's turn for a multikill as he took 4 kills in the B lane. ATOX finally managed to take a round thanks to Dobu and MiQ's doubles, but Techno's troops closed the half out 14-1. A nearly flawless pistol round gave ATOX a minuscule hope, but it was snatched away as TheMongolz took the win 16-3. ATOX started Mirage with a better lead than their entire Ancient score. And despite TheMongolz picking up a few rounds, ATOX maintained their lead up to an 8-3. That's when TheMongolz woke up again and managed to bring it back to just an 8-7.

Kabal the star of Mirage

Yet another pistol round extended ATOX's lead by two, and they managed to hold on in the gun rounds to go 12-7. Finally, Techno4k got a 3k to give TheMongolz their first CT round. Still, the squad was unable to get a streak going and ATOX took the map soon after.

Anubis was another solid start for ATOX as they took 4 in a row to open up. A couple of rounds went TheMongolz's way but ATOX maintained their lead 6-3. Once more, however, Techno and Co. came back in the later rounds to get the half down to 7-8 again. This time the pistol round went their way and they took the lead. Neck and neck down the home stretch as TheMongolz barely held on through the myriad of tech pauses to reach match point. Still going into round 30, they had a completely broken buy which barely kept them from taking the map in regulation.

Even in overtime, the two Mongolian squads remained inseparable, TheMongolz once again reached matchpoint before their rivals and were once more denied the map for another bout of OT. The second OT was much the same with both teams at 20 but this time TheMongolz finally prevailed to take the win 2-1.
