Gods Reign Upset Marcos Gaming to secure Skyesports Masters Grand Finals
The second semi-finals for the Skyesports Masters pits Marcos against Gods Reign. Marcos were the dominant force in the online league, dropping just 3 matches in the season. Meanwhile Gods Reign squeeked by with just 9 wins, including one over Marcos in the final matches of the season. Will Marcos regain their form when it counts, or will Gods Reign edge out another win in front of the home town?
The veto saw the analyst desk stumped with some of Gods Reign's decisions. Marcos' pick of Overpass has been flawless for them, and Gods Reign chose not to take Vertigo, where they beat Marcos the last time, and instead went with another Marcos strength in Ancient. If they survive that gauntlet Inferno is a more level field for the two.
A 4k from Mcg1LLzZz started the map off with a pistol for Marcos. reV3nnn's scout found a multitude of tags and Ph1NNN cleaned it up to get the forcebuy win for Gods Reign. The forcebuy wars finally ended as KiiLSwitCh's team took two in a row as the casters highlighted how Marcos were overcomplicating the tactics.
The first gun round finally came out in round 8, but Gods Reign were unstoppable as Crazy_Gamer took a double on long A to shut the Ts down. Marcos had round 9 in the bag but fumbled it as reV3nnn stuck the defuse without a peak from Rider.
Marcos looked shellshocked as Gods Reign's CT pushes were stumping them at every turn. GR went up 10-2 without anybody from Marcos hitting double digits. Annihilation from Gods Reign as they take the half 13-2 on Marcos' map pick.
Flawless pistol for Gods Reign followed by a nearly flawless anti-force as Gods Reign closed the map out 16-2 to dominate Marcos out of Overpass.
With a strong win under their belt, Gods Reign continued onto Ancient, starting off with a pistol conversion for two. With Marcos on CT, they finally put up a convincing set of rounds to take an early lead at 4-2. Two more rounds went towards DEFAULTER's troops before Gods Reign came back in and took the half back to an even scoreline at 6-6. reV3nnn's AWP pulled out a massive play on A and Gods Reign secured the halftime win 9-6.
A pistol round on top, spelled trouble for Marcos as Gods Reign extended up to 12-6. Gods Reign were unstoppable as they kept the onslaught up, taking 14 rounds. Marcos were unable to find their footing and Gods Reign took 16, taking the series 2-0 and securing Grand Finals at Skyesports Masters.
