f1redup talks to Dust2 India after the Skyesports Masters final

After a heartbreaking loss in the final to Gods Reign, Revenant Esports' star AWPer who lit the entire tournament on fire with his incredible performances throughout, f1redup spoke about Revenant Esports' Skyesports campaign, his personal performances and more.

The final didn't go the way you would have hoped for but nonetheless you guys had a stellar event, especially towards the second half of the League Stage where you guys just took down every team. Can you talk to us about the tournament experience and Revenant's performance ?

It was an amazing journey and I am very proud of my team, proud of each and every player. I am really happy that we invested so much time and even though we lost, I am not heart-broken. Whenever we lose a game I feel bad but this time I am satisfied, we did well overall and even yesterday's game (semifinal against 7SEA) it was very close and we did well and I'm happy.

You guys took a while to finalise your IGL and bounced through a couple of players before zeroing down on SpawN. What do you think clicked with SpawN which was missing before?

It was my call to keep SpawN as IGL because I understood after two losses that it was tough for gump to handle us. He's very young and he needed to focus on his own game and we decided I would call midround and SpawN would be the IGL. The main thing he worked on was separating the Indian trio and the two imports and that decision paid off as we turned it around in the second half of the League Stage and made it to the finals after a great comeback in the semifinals as well.

Let's talk about something which isn't really looked into more - having two foreign players, blending in different play styles, cultures - how did you guys manage to get everyone on the same page?

To be honest, even today we aren't synchronised, it isn't the smoothest gameplay. With imports, it was really challenging, especially the comms - we had to switch to full English comms. We had to make them understand our style and what we were doing while they were making us understand theirs' and it was not an easy task to get it done but we managed it somehow and I am happy.

Talking about your personal form, red-hot form through the event, what have you been doing additionally that sees you churn out incredible performances one after the other?

Nothing special to be honest. I focus on my Deathmatches, I focus on my aim and I trust my teammates and I play my own game. I have an absolutely crack team and I try to help them. Unfortunately we couldn't do it this time but there is always a next time.

Your message to the Indian Counter-Strike fans and upcoming players?

I would say 'keep grinding', the scene is growing and will be big and on the rise. Focus on your aim, keep practicing, it will be huge and this is just the start!
