ENCE move past EG to kick off EPL opening bracket
The BO3 series began on EG's map pick of Mirage with the North Americans initiating the contest on the T-side. NertZ's valiant 4k in the pistol round wasn't enough to notch an early start as he fell short in the 1v1 against Junior, resulting in EG winning the pistol. After conceding the second round, ENCE bounced back with the buy-round win, ultimately tying the score at 2-2. While SunPayus struggled to find his footing on the CT side, NertZ emerged as a formidable force, consistently delivering multi-kills seemingly out of thin air. As a result, despite EG managing to secure impactful entries into the bombsites, they struggled to close them out effectively, resulting in a modest tally of just 5 rounds at the conclusion of their T-side campaign
The second half of the match unfolded in a rather unpredictable manner. ENCE initially capitalized on their pistol round victory, only to be caught off guard by walking into a B bombsite stacked with CTs wielding hand cannons. The narrative continued throughout the half, as EG won unexpected rounds but failed to get their momentum going by crumbling in buy rounds. Consequently, ENCE ultimately sealed the game with a 16-9 victory. NertZ stood out as the standout performer of the map, as he scored 29 kills, aided out by Dycha's 24.
On Nuke, EG kicked off their CT side by cleanly converting the first three rounds. A 1v2 clutch from Jeorge was followed by a timed defuse to put their fourth on the board. However, once ENCE got into the swing of the T-side, they became unrelenting. With SunPayus alive and kicking on the second map, ENCE ended up going 9-6 despite their 0-4 start, with the Spanian securing 17 kills to wrap up the first half.
After scoring the pistol, EG almost succumbed to the force buy of ENCE, but were saved by Walco's 1v2 clutch. Like a replica of the first half, ENCE's rebuttal came after the 4th round of the half, as they cleanly dispatched the Terrorists blasting out upper. The momentum was carried forward by Dycha, who picked up the pieces with his 1v2 clutch. While ENCE surged to a 13-10 lead off the back of that critical round, EG showcased their resilience by narrowing the score to 14-13. While they pushed the game to go the distance by overcoming a saved M4A1 and AWP, the map ended in heartbreak as ENCE held their nerves to win the final two rounds, securing the map 16-14.
