Revenant Esports ease past Reckoning Esports
The third day of Skyesports Souvenir witnessed a matchup between Reckoning Esports and Revenant Esports. This best-of-three (BO3) battle unfolded across Inferno and Ancient, with Overpass standing as the potential decider. Both teams, previously falling short of the expectations set for them, entered this contest with a burning desire to redeem themselves and showcase their true potential.
Securing the pistol round gave RKE a three-round headstart as they kicked off their T-side on Mirage. However, strong defenses on the A-site with gump firing on all cylinders and f1redup lending a helping hand when required, allowed RE to slowly claw their way back into the game. They started off by finding an equalizer, and despite RKE pulling another round on the back of a double entry from catast0phe's Mac-10 in boiler, RE continued their onslaught. CyloneF stood out as a force to be reckoned with, as he ended the half with 16 kills, propelling RE to a 9-6 score at halftime.
An anticipated B-rush of RE was stopped easily by RKE, as they kicked off the second half by converting the pistol. However, RE replied right back by their force buy A-rush, as a 3K from Spawn saw his team get back on track. Catastr0phe, who shouldered the lion's share of the workload in the opening half with an impressive 15 kills, strangely faded into the background during the latter part of the match. His drop in performance allowed RE to seize control and embark on a winning streak. The fact that he managed to secure only three additional kills in the second half serves as a stark testament to RE's dominance, ultimately culminating in a decisive 16-7 victory.
The second map Ancient took off in the favour of RE, as they converted the pistol starting on the CT side. However, a fast A rush on their force buy prompted an early round for RKE, as they posted their first. RKE consistently looked threatening, as they found their 2nd in the 6th round. Nevertheless, they were never allowed to gain momentum, as RE would quickly regain their footing. As a result, they cruised to a 9-2 lead. Leading the charts on the side of RKE were f1redup, gump, and Shandarez, as they reached double digits in no time.
While RKE retaliated towards the end of the half, they could manage no more than 4 rounds, conceding the half dominantly in favor of RE. Not disheartened by the lopsided half, RKE started off the second half on the right foot by securing the first two rounds. But once the buy rounds unfolded, they got overwhelmed by the sheer firepower of RE, as they reached match point at 15-7. A 1v1 from Lucia kept RKE in the competition, as they strung together 4 rounds in a row. However, they crumbled against a weak buy on round 27, allowing RE to close out the map 16-11.
