Catastr0phE: "I feel more confident here"
After facing a defeat in their opening game against Gods Reign on Ancient, Firedup turned it around in their second BO1 on Mirage. After the game, we caught up to Catastr0phE, the IGL and the MVP of their second win, to have a brief chat with us. Here is what he had to say.
Starting the game, did you think Gods Reign had an advantage considering they had already played on stage and this was your first game?
Can I be really honest, I felt very stuck. Like, they changed the PC and I wasn't able to stretch my legs. So it got uncomfortable.
Was this your first LAN?
First big LAN, yes.
You must have felt a lot of difference in playing from your home and playing in front of a crowd here?
Yeah there is! I think I feel more confident here. So I basically play from Meerut, it's near Delhi. And the ping I get from there is not that good. And there are many disadvantages, but here there are no disadvantages. And I top-fragged.
What happened on Ancient, you struggled to get anything going.
Many will say that Mirage is a PUG map. But for me, Ancient is also one of my favourite maps. But my team maybe just couldn't coordinate. And they were also very prepared, the whole Gods Reign lineup. They were taking mid control, they were doing everything efficiently and we just couldn't counter it.
You are obviously an up and coming IGL, how aggressive would you say you are?
Very.
How do you make sure everyone on your team is on the same page? Because sometimes your teammates may find it hard to catch up to you.
To make sure everyone is on the same page? laughs. ghostxD helped me out on the second map. But for aggression, all you need is just confidence. Every player should know how to react to situations. And that is what we practiced. We didn't had a game yesterday so we practiced for 10 hours.
After this win, Firedup Gaming sit in a comfortable spot to qualify for the playoffs. They just need one more win out of the two BO1 they have left today, where they will face Enigma Gaming.
