Catastr0phE: "Give opportunity to the people who deserve it"

Catastr0phE talks about their semi-final loss

Firedup Gaming, despite their loss in the semi-finals have proven that all it takes to succeed in CS2 is passion and determination. After their match, we sat down with their hardest hitter Catastr0phE to break down their journey in the tournament.

We didn't see the Firedup Gaming we were expecting. What went wrong?

I wasn't hitting my shots today. Everyone else played well. ghostxD stepped up today. Nox played insanely well as the B anchor. But the thing is, their splits were really well. But they won the crucial rounds. They won the first buy round. And then at 10-10 I made a huge blunder by spamming through the smoke. I think that is the reason we lost Mirage. On Anubis, their water control was really good. Their utility usage was really good.

Did you feel low on confidence on the second map when you started losing?

My confidence doesn't stem from my aim. Even if my aim is not on point, it doesn't make me go quiet or affect my confidence. I play my own game. But I want more confidence from my team when I can't frag. I shouldn't be the only person playing. I expect them to frag more if I fail to to hit so that next round I can hit harder.

Your roster formed recently right? From open qualifiers to the semi-finals of the tournament is a substantial achievement in its own considering you don't have an org to back you up?

Champ asked me to play in this open qualifier for Hyderabad. I didn't know if I could go or not, but he said everything will be sponsored. So I was like, yeah let's go. Because we didn't have an org. We don't have the resources to come here. I think we should give opportunity to the people who deserve it. There's so much happening for CS2 at the moment and currently, there are so many players/teams who deserve an opportunity and resources just so that they can improve and represent our nation overseas. I have a message for the organisations of other games that the CS2 scene on the international level is the biggest there is and this could be the right opportunity for these passionate organisations to step into the CS2 scene of India.
