Shika: "We were chaotic at times"
Garuda Wisnu Voyage's Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 run came to a halt in the lower bracket after their 0-2 loss to Bad News Kangaroos. After the match Garuda Wisnu Voyage's Shika spoke to Dust2 India about their lower bracket match and their overall tournament.
When asked about them getting outdueled and caught off guard often, Shika pointed out that despite being sharp in terms of aim, his team got caught off guard due to subpar positioning. He also spoke about how the team needs more time together.
Our aim was really good today but the problem was positioning, we'd always get caught off guard. We were chaotic at times and used to forget our utilities. We used to die one by one instead of pushing together with confidence and as a team we've been together for just six months and I think we need to spend more time together.
When asked about the tournament's impact on the team, Shika acknowledged the event's importance, playing against teams like Aurora, Bad News Kangaroos and Gods Reign. He spoke about how a tournament could go both ways and how sometimes their commitments elsewhere would hinder their grind.
This is very important in my life actually, this is our first big tournament. Sometimes we're champions and sometimes we're not, we also want to grind together everyday but sometimes we have other commitments, like I am working and two of us are in college. We know our problems now and we know what we should do to get better.
Speaking about the future of Garuda Wisnu Voyage, Shika expressed the team's desire to be a part of other big tournaments down the line and in a heart-felt message to their fans back home, Shika apologized for their loss and assured the fans that the team will perform better in the future.
Can we see Garuda Wisnu Voyage at other big events? Is there something you'd like to tell your fans back home?
I hope so! But no specific plans right now. And to all our fans - I'm sorry everyone, I'm doing my best and so are the team, we will try our best next time, we'll do our best.
