yourwombat: "We kinda just deathmatch-ed them"
The first lower bracket match saw Bad News Kangaroos face Garuda Wisnu Voyage and the Aussies put up a massive 2-0 win to eliminate Garuda Wisnu Voyage and book their consolidation final spot.
Speaking about their approach coming into the game, yourwombat pointed out the lack of info they had on Garuda Wisnu Voyage for an in-depth preparation and their intent to take the fights to the opposition.
We didn't really know a lot about them coming into this event, we saw how they played against Gods Reign and we figured we should play as confidently as possible, especially after our loss yesterday just to get back into things. We kinda just deathmatch-ed them, like as long as they can't stop it, we keep doing it.
yourwombat spoke about the team's confidence to take straight fights and not overthink the situation with too many strategies and tactics. He shared that Bad News Kangaroos didn't think a lot about changing things up as long as they were working out in their favor.
We didn't want to overthink things, we just wanted to take as many fights together as possible and just shut them out of the rounds to not really give them a chance to play. We didn't feel the need to chance that so we just kept going.
When asked about his last minute stand-in appointment, yourwombat spoke about how he doesn't have any extra pressure on himself and he knows the team in and out of the server.
I don't have any extra pressure, I know these guys really well back home, BRACE is my housemate. I don't think there's any big expectations, we're just trying our best and are very excited to play this event together.
How important are big margin wins like these for your morale and confidence, after your loss on Overpass yesterday?
Feels really great to get those wins under our belt and hopefully we can use the momentum to roll into the lower bracket finals and play the grand finals as well, I think it's really important for our confidence.
The conclude the conversation yourwombat revealed that Bad News Kangaroos would prefer facing Gods Reign and hopefully set up a rematch against Aurora in the grand finals.
