Cloud9's Major dreams goes up in flameZ
The first playoff game of the inaugural CS2 Major, the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024, had defending champions Vitality take on Cloud9 with the latter growing in strength after each game through their Copenhagen run. While apEX and co. were looking to cement their legacy, Cloud9's roster were looking to build theirs.
Vitality's pick of Inferno started the series as apEX and co. started with the CT-sided pistol win thanks to a clinical B retake. As soon as they brought out the guns, Cloud9 put up a strong T side and which saw them end the half at 6-6 with a crucial Boombl4 1v1 against ZywOo on 4hp making sure Vitality didn't run with the opening half. While ZywOo had a slow start to the game, the Frenchman powered up in the second half to propel Vitality to a 13-8 win.
Cloud9 went for a surprise pick of Anubis and it given Vitality's prowess on the map, the Paris Major champions kicked things off on their T side with a 5-0 lead. Boombl4's AWP helped Cloud9 post their first round and an electroNic quad kill closed out the half as Cloud9 could manage just 2 defensive rounds. Two was all Cloud9 could manage as Vitality shut it out at 13-2 to book themselves a place in the semi-finals.
After booking their spot in the semi-final, Vitality now await the winner of the FaZe vs Spirit game to see who they will face in the semi-final.
