Skyesports Championship 2024 remaining Day 1 matches postponed

Tournament organiser under pressure with lengthy delays affecting the event

It was anything but the ideal start for Skyesports as they got things underway for their $300,000 tournament, the Skyesports Championship 2024. Lengthy technical delays due to electricity and internet issues at the venue, Taj Lands End in Mumbai meant only one game out of the 10 scheduled games took place.

The MongolZ and True Rippers' opening game, which almost saw True Rippers stun The MongolZ, was the only game that was completed although almost three hours after the start of the game. While the Eternal Fire went up against Revenant in the other BO1 of the opening round, that game didn't not get past seven rounds as internet and electricity issues struck. MAJ3R stated that even though electricity and internet came back, players were facing 5% - 10% loss which was yet to be solved.

Fact box

Dust2 India has confirmed with the tournament organiser, Skyesports, that the remainder of the games scheduled for the opening day of the Group Stages at Skyesports Championship 2024 has been rescheduled to a later date. The exact date or the new schedule has not been shared yet.

The Group Stages have BO1s running from July 23 - July 25 with the Playoffs starting on July 27 and the semi-finals and Grand Final scheduled for July 28, 2024. With July 26 being kept as the off-day between the Group Stages and Playoffs, we might see the new schedule move the games to that date.
