The MongolZ takes down sloppy AMKAL
After three days of BO1 action in the Group Stages at the Skyesports Championship 2024, six teams for the Playoffs were confirmed as the $300,000 event move to the LAN stage. While the second and third placed teams from Group A and B were set to battle it out in the quarter-finals, the group toppers (Aurora and Eternal Fire) moved directly to the semi-finals. The quarter-finals kicked off with The MongolZ taking on AMKAL in the BO3 encounter following more than an hour's delay.
AMKAL's pick of Dust2 got things going with The MongolZ's defence giving them the first two rounds before an Sdaim 1v2 got the Russians on board as soon as they got their first buy. The MongolZ answered back immediately with three-in-a-row before a late B execute helped AMKAL get their second. A Forester double-opening at A saw AMKAL lock in their third but an active CT side from bLitz and co. saw them start with an 8-4 half. bLitz opened up Catwalk and helped his team lock in both pistols on Dust2. bLitz's openers helped his team ease to a 13-7 win to get the series underway.

Mirage, The MongolZ's pick saw the Asian team start slow as AMKAL's defence helped them go 8-2 up with Krad's incredible trigger discipline on the B site saw the Russian team steal a late-round defuse to lock in their eighth. A triple from Techno helped The MongolZ leave the opening half with 3 rounds and The MongolZ fought back on their defensive side as a double AWP set up with 910 and Senzu's AWPs brought to a one-round game at 10-11. A sloppy post plant hold from AMKAL on the B site saw The MongolZ retake a 2v4 to tie up the score. AMKAL let go of a 5v3 which saw The MongolZ get to match point and the Asian team closed it at 13-11 to secure a 2-0 series win.
The MongolZ will now take on Eternal Fire in the semi-final of the Skyesports Championship 2024 while the second quarter-final between ENCE and 3DMAX will take place later today.
