The MongolZ's Cologne campaign on the line
It's been an up and down run for Asia's best Counter-Strike team, The MongolZ, at IEM Cologne 2024 and now the Asian team will be battling for their tournament lives against paiN in the lower bracket as bLitz and his boys need to make yet another lower bracket run.
The MongolZ had to complete a lower bracket run at the Play-In stage after going down to SAW in the opening day at Cologne, following which they dispatched FlyQuest and Eternal Fire to make the main event. At the main event, The MongolZ shocked Spirit which put them on the cusp of making history as they were one win away from becoming the first Asian team to make the Playoffs at Cologne.
The MongolZ though, went down to SAW once again, in the upper bracket semi-final and while SAW locked in their spot at the LANXESS arena, The MongolZ have fallen down to the lower bracket and now need to win all their games as they face paiN to start the journey to the Playoffs.
The road ahead is not going to be easy for The MongolZ either as, should they beat paiN, they will take on G2 or Astralis in the lower bracket final. Given G2's hammering of Spirit and device's Astralis slowly coming together, The MongolZ will have their task cut out.
The lower bracket journey for The MongolZ starts today, as they take on the Brazilians at 22:15 IST.
