ESL shares launders' Counter-Strike story
In the second episode of the latest series CS2 Profiles, ESL have shared the story of renowned Counter-Strike caster Mohan "launders" Govindasamy. The latest episode showcases launders' upbringing in Canada, his journey into esports and becoming one of the most recognised names in the Counter-Strike community currently.
The episode shares insight about launders' early life, his roots in Tamil Nadu, India and journey to esports. launders' mother, who was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, moved to Malaysia early on and was raised there.
launders himself was born in Montreal, Canada and was raised by his mother. He grew up in Toronto and played a lot of StarCraft growing up and shared stories about his early gaming days. launders spoke about the early jobs he worked at in McDonald's, selling furniture, at butcher shops and as a telemarketer as well amongst other odd jobs.
He speaks in detail about his mother and how much she worked as a single parent to raise launders and how he grew up in a group home system in Toronto. He also shared the importance about first-big male influence in his life, Michael from the Big Brothers program in Canada. launders, who hadn't met Michael in a while, has an emotional reunion with the former as well in the episode.
Moving to the start of his Counter-Strike journey, he speaks about his early days as a content creator on YouTube, doing his first interview with Semphis at ESWC which gained a lot of traction. He speaks about his early stint with Yahoo and then transitioning into a caster, casting his first event with Sadokist at LAN ETS and his journey from there to casting the Grand Final of the final CS:GO Major.
