Team India suffers a big defeat to Mongolia

Devastating loss for India in IESF World Esports Championship 2024 Asia Qualifier

After picking up a convincing win in their IESF World Esports Championship 2024 Asia qualifier opener against Malaysia, Team India faced Mongolia in their second game with Bhavi and his boys looking to maintain an unbeaten run. The Mongolian team though, proved to be too strong for the India squad.

The action kicked off on Inferno with nin9, execbartkk and Tamiraarita powering up to make sure Mongolia started the series strong with a convincing 13-7 win. Moving to Ancient, it was a back and forth affair with neither team willing to give an inch. For India, it was the series on the line and even though cobrazera dropped a 40 bomb and nin9- picked up 30 kills, it was Ph1NNN and Bhavi's firepower getting India across the line in second overtime at 19-17.

The decider on Mirage saw Mongolia start with the early advantage on their CT half but impactful rounds from f1redup and Bhavi closed out the half in India's favour at 7-5. nin9- denied Ph1NNN a 1v2 in the second half pistol and that propelled Mongolia to tie up the score quickly and take the lead. India was unable to stop the Mongolian attack as they breezed to a 13-8 win to pick up the series 2-1.

With India's loss to Mongolia, it has severely dented their hopes to make it to the World Esports Championship 2024, as only one team will make it out of the Asian Qualifier and India are now in second spot with 1 win and 1 loss from two games. Mongolia sit pretty on top with 2 wins from as many games while Pakistan are third with 1 win and 1 loss as well. Malaysia are at the bottom of the table with two losses.
