Strong series from aliStair

FlyQuest wins ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024

A first international LAN win for an Australian team since 2017

Australian squad FlyQuest were one step away from not only winning the ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 but also booking themselves a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 21 as they took on BIG in the Grand Final. This was also FlyQuest's chance to become the first Australian team to win an international LAN since 2017 when Renegades had won the SL i-League Invitational Shanghai 2017 event, taking down Virtus.pro.

BIG's pick of Ancient got the series underway as it was aliStair, dexter and Liazz helping FlyQuest go 10-2 up in the opening half. Krimbo tried his level best to keep the Germans in the game, but FlyQuest eventually closed it at 13-10, denying BIG a comeback chance.

aliStair's AWP helped FlyQuest start their pick of Vertigo with the seven T rounds. rigoN and JDC helped BIG take the lead once they moved to their T side, going up 8-7 before the Aussies got their defensive hold set up. tabseN, who had a rough opening half, finally woke up and a solid team performance from BIG saw them hit map point first on Vertigo before FlyQuest hung on in the final two rounds of regulation to push Vertigo to overtime, which was also the tournament's first overtime. It was BIG's AWPer sysroN though at the end, closing out with Vertigo with a 1v2 on the B site to push the series to a decider.

FlyQuest's defence saw them take the early advantage on Dust2 as it was aliStair's AWP all over the Germans. BIG failed to capitalise on a couple of back-to-back B hits which saw FlyQuest end with 9 CT rounds. BIG's second half pistol and conversions saw them bring it to a one-round game at 9-10 before an aliStair 1v2 brought the Australians back in the game and FlyQuest closed it out at 13-9 to take the series 2-1 and win ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024.

The win not only sees the Australian team lift the trophy in Atlanta and take home a prize money of $50,000 but also book their place in the ESL Pro League Season 21 and become the first Australian team to win an international LAN event since 2017.
