SPUNJ on Skyesports cancelling Souvenir: "You are a f*****g dog"

In the latest episode of HLTV Confirmed, SPUNJ, Striker, and Professeur discussed Skyesports' recent announcement regarding the cancellation of their first event of the season, Skyesports Souvenir.

SPUNJ was particularly critical of the tournament organizer, accusing them of mishandling the rules and then blaming Valve. He expressed frustration over the impact of such cancellations, stating that announcing an event only to cancel it a couple of months later wastes valuable calendar space for teams.

"If you are scheduling events in advance and then cancelling within a couple of months of the event being announced, you’re a f*****g dog,. That's what I call people on FACEIT, and that's what I am going to call the TOs that do this"

The trio also addressed Skyesports' history of event cancellations, suggesting that it would continue to damage their reputation and make it increasingly difficult for them to secure participation from top-tier teams. Striker speculated that the cancellation was likely due to Skyesports' inability to attract the big teams, potentially leading them to attempt a wildcard event that ultimately didn’t meet the necessary criteria. Since the event no longer made sense from a business perspective, they decided to call it off.

They touched on the future with three upcoming events of Skyesports lined up, particularly the Skyesports Masters 2025 in May. Scheduled right before the Major, the three discussed how it will likely have any top 30 teams in attendance. And with a $500k prize pool for an event with no top 30 teams, another cancellation news may be on the cards.

They also talked about the impact of cancelling events on T2 scene. If the companies who are supposed to host tournaments to give opportunities to T2 teams call it off, then Valve will punish them by making them unranked. So if these TO are not going to host them, someone else will get the slot.
