G2 take down Cloud9 in BLAST Spring Final opener

Clean 2-0 from HooXi

G2 comprehensively took down Cloud9 in the BLAST Spring Final 2023 opener as m0NESY started hot for HooXi's men. Cloud9 will now fight for their survival against Vitality while G2 get ready to face Imperial.

First up was Cloud9's pick of Vertigo with G2 starting on the defensive side. It was Cloud9 who won the pistol but G2 took the force buy and the following two conversions to take an early 3-1 lead. Cloud9 responded with three of their own to take the lead of the match again at 4-3 with a buster quad kill giving Cloud9 the lead. A HooXi double and a NiKo triple saw G2 close the game to a one game round before G2 tied up the game at 6-6. A HObbit 1v1 win against jks, in a round which saw the veteran come in with a quad kill saw, Cloud9 put up their seventh before they ended the half with a 9-6 lead.

NiKo's triple gave G2 the second half pistol and a m0NESY 1v3 saw G2 pick up the force buy before they tied up the game at 9-9 thanks to a huNter- triple kill. G2 made it four in a row to retake the lead of the game at 10-9. NiKo clutched out a crucial 1v1 against Ax1Le to see G2 pick up six in a row to kick off the second half. It was a buster double on a low buy which gave Cloud9 their first defensive half but G2 responded immediately thanks to an outrageous triple from m0NESY. It was the young Russian AWP-er who was in the mix as a double from him saw G2 close out the map at 16-11, with Cloud9 just managing to put up two defensive rounds.

The second map was G2's pick of Inferno, with Cloud9 starting on the CT half and it was G2 picked up the pistol and they converted against the force buy and eco from Cloud9 to go 3-0 up. A buster double which was a part of a brawl on the A site saw Cloud9 pick up their first CT round. m0NESY's 1v1 against buster saw G2 secure their sixth and a jks triple saw G2 pick up their seventh a Cloud9's defence was just being picked apart. NiKo's triple saw G2 win out the half early at 8-1 and they turned around a 2v3 after going down 3v5 to make it four in a row. sh1ro's 1v1 win against huNter- post plant on the B site gave Cloud9 their second round and Cloud9 made it two in a row on the back of another multi-kill round from their AWP-er sh1ro. Cloud9 made it four in a row to end the half at 5-10.

Cloud9 picked up the second pistol and they picked up the conversion against the eco, force buy and the first gun round to get the score to 9-10. Cloud9 won five T rounds in a row to tie the score at 10-10 as nafany and his men weren't ready to give in. An Ax1Le triple kill saw Cloud9 turn around a 3v5 to take the lead of the map at 11-10. G2 picked up their defensive round on the back on a force buy with a double from jks on the five-seven. A NiKo double and HooXi triple clean up on the B site saw G2 retake the lead of the game. G2 turned around a 2v3 on the A site as they made it three in a row to bounce back. jks' triple A hold against Cloud9's pistols saw G2 pick up their fourteenth. m0NESY's double put G2 on map point and G2 closed out the map at 16-11 and won the series 2-0.
