The MongolZ one step away from IEM Cologne Group Stages
It was far from the ideal start that bLitz and his boys were looking for on the opening day of IEM Cologne 2024 Play-Ins, going down to SAW, but The MongolZ fought back on the second day to pick up a dominating win over FlyQuest and keep their hopes of making it to the Group Stages alive.
After a disappointing and non-charateristic showing against SAW on the opening day, The MongolZ faced Australia's FlyQuest for survival on Day 2. Techno, senzu powered The MongolZ to a comfortable map win on Anubis before an even more dominant victory on Ancient saw The MongolZ stay alive in Germany and send the Australians home.
Now, on the final day of the Play-In, The MongolZ will face Eternal Fire, who had an extremely sloppy game against Complexity. After EliGE powered Complexity to a 13-9 win on Vertigo, Eternal Fire should have been beaten in regulation but the Turkish team managed to take Dust2 to overtime, although EliGE and Grim were eventually too much to handle as Complexity hung on for a 19-17 win to drop the Turkish team into the lower bracket round 2.
Eternal Fire will now face The MongolZ and winner moves directly to IEM Cologne 2024 Group Stages, while the loser heads home. The two teams recently met at the Skyesports Championship 2024 semi-final, where The MongolZ had eased past XANTARES and co., picking up a resounding 2-0 and the Mongolian side will be looking to do the same again. Eternal Fire on the other hand, would not only be looking to set the score straight but also find some form to head into the Group Stages.
The MongolZ and Eternal Fire's game will be the final game of the IEM Cologne 2024 Play-In, and is scheduled to kick off at 22:15 IST, tonight.
