XO WINS EXTREMESLAND ASIA OPEN 2024
Against the odds and defying all the expectations, unranked Middle Eastern mix team XO have won the eXTREMESLAND Asia Open 2024 taking down the higher ranked ATOX in the Grand Final, in straight maps to concluded a dominant campaign.
Individual brilliance early on, on Inferno, saw XO run away with the half as their CT half saw them pick up 8 rounds and it looked like XO would be waltzing to a map win but ATOX on a couple of low buy rounds stayed alive before a quick A hit on a mixed buy saw XO shut out Inferno at 13-9.
Anubis saw XO's CT side get things going as the pistol win helped them pick up three consecutive rounds and buid the base for an eight round defensive half. 0SAMAS double opener in the second pistol saw them further extend their lead but Zesta and Accuracy helped ATOX hit back with the force to keep themselves alive. ATOX's force buy win saw them bring it to a two-round game before back-to-back-to-back A hits saw XO hit map, match, series and championship point. XO closed out Anubis at 13-10 to lock in the series 2-0 to take the title.
XO's win sees them create history, becoming the first-ever unranked team in eXTREMESLAND's 9-year history to win the title. They are also the first-ever winners of eXTREMESLAND from the Middle-East. XO's eXTREMESLAND 2024 title win also sees them head home with a prize money of $40,000 while ATOX's second place finish nets them a prize money of $15,000.
