On this day in 2024: Bhavi leads Marcos to international glory

One year anniversary of Marcos' international triumph

It's been exactly one year since Marcos won the BLAST The Draft Season 1, with the Indian team along with Counter-Strike legend shox taking down True Rippers to lift the title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Draft Season 1, which was an exclusive India-Pakistan series saw three of India's top teams and three of Pakistan's top teams qualify for the LAN finals in Kuala Lumpur, where they fought it out for the $50,000 prize money. Marcos, True Rippers and Gods Reign represented India while Pakistan's representatives were Pak Boyz, Come Mid and WahWah.

For the LAN finals, BLAST spiced up things by giving each team a Counter-Strike legend, with the likes of GeT_RiGhT, olofmeister, GuardiaN, shox, kennyS and friberg joining each other teams. With four of their core players and one legend, the six teams had battled it out in a double elimination bracket which saw Gods Reign get knocked out early on while True Rippers breezed into the Grand Final.

Marcos dropped to the lower bracket after going down in the upper bracket final against True Rippers but fought their way back to the Grand Final to set up a rematch with True Rippers.

The Grand Final started with Marcos going 2-0 up early on, picking up Vertigo and Ancient before kennyS led the comeback for True Rippers as they were looking to reverse sweep the Final. True Rippers locked in Mirage and Inferno, setting up Overpass as the decider. Overpass though was a one-man show as shox powered Marcos to a massive 13-3 win to see them hold on for a 3-2 win in the Grand Final and take home The Draft Season 1 title along with a prize money of $20,000.

Post the win in Malaysia, the Marcos core of Bhavi, B2 and reV3nnnn (who missed out personal issues) was picked up by Gods Reign, with Bhavi and R2B2 still at Gods Reign.

True Rippers stuck around for 2024, even being the Indian representatives at the Skyesports Championship 2024 but walked away from CS2 in November 2024. Marcos also currently do not have a CS2 roster, after going through a couple of controversial moments in 2024.
