Astralis are through to Semi-Finals over Heroic
The Danish Derby has finally gotten some spice thrown into the mix as Astralis are back to the playoffs stage. After over 2 years of regional dominance for Heroic, the Cologne quarter-finals were sure to be a thrilling battle.
And it started with a device triple to show that the legend is back in the Cathedral of CS. And the Danish sniper, started on fire to put Astralis up at 4. cadiaN and co. finally managed to get a streak of 3 rounds before trading more rounds back and forth and finally taking the lead 7-6. And when Heroic were on the edge of running away, Buzz sat them back down with a beautiful 4k.
Another Astralis pistol triple, this time from b0RUP to cement their lead. That 85% winrate of Astralis on Ancient was ringing true once more and they continued to shut Heroic out round after round. Finding a completely empty bombsite A, Astralis snatched away Map Point and closed it out for a dominant 16-7 victory.
Heroic got a much needed headstart on Inferno to shake off some of those Ancient jitters. device's AWP was nearly unkillable as even in lost rounds Heroic's chases were trounced. Once the big green started hitting it's mark, Astralis got off to a massive streak of 6 out of 7. The half's end in sight, Heroic finally managed to get another couple of rounds together to take the halftime lead at 8-7 as Buzz took the final kill to shut cadiaN down.
Starting the second half, Staehr gifted Astralis a pistol round allowing the squad to extend to double digits. The first gun round however still went the way of Heroic as they instantly took a retake on A before Astralis could find positions. Four rounds back to back Astralis were able to smash through the A site defence off the back of Buzz as the 20-year-old kept putting kills on the board when it mattered. No mercy from the Danes as even pistols were snatched away from Heroic, Astralis up at 14-10. Buzz added three more to his tally to get matchpoint and Astralis closed it out to secure a match against G2 in the semi-finals of IEM Cologne.
