The MongolZ see off VP in Rio campaign opener

Strong showing from Mongolian squad

With Rare Atom being replaced by Imperial at IEM Rio 2024 due to visa issues, The MongolZ were the only Asian representatives in Brazil and bLitz and co. kicked off their journey in Rio against Virtus.pro (VP) in the Group B upper bracket quarter-final.

The MongolZ's CT side got things going on Mirage and 910's AWP took over which helped the Mongolian side go 7-1 up before a late resurgence from VP saw them end the opening half with four rounds. The second half pistol helped VP bring it to a one round game at 7-8. It was The MongolZ waking up after that and while VP had a chance to push the map to overtime, The MongolZ pushed A on a Tec-9 rush to close out the match at 13-10.

The MongolZ now move into the Group B upper bracket semi-final where they will face Vitality, who ran through 9z earlier in the day.
