st4rboys dethrone Gods Reign; win maiden Masters title
The grand-final of the Dust2 India 1XBET Masters 16 saw Gods Reign take on st4rboys with the bo3 starting on Mirage. st4rboys had 0SAMAS standing in for them as the former JiJieHao and Onyx Ravens players came in for the Grand Final due to the Pakistani team facing some technical issues on their end.
Gods Reign got off to shaky start, down 2-7 on the CT-side. The trio of 0SAMAS, Bloody and pavast4r propelled st4rboys to an 8-4 lead in the first half. Displaying brute force on the T-side, Gods Reign started with a 3-0 in the second half but nearly faltered at the last momentum as 0SAMAS and hf do massive damage with the Deagle, taking down a couple of players towards mid. Ph1NNN and R2B2 held on, to prevent the round from slipping away, however, with so many players going down, Gods Reign had to approach the next round with limited utility, costing them the round.
Gods Reign's economy never really recovered for the rest of the half but the Indian team rolled over the B-defense with a scrappy Tec9-Mac10 combo at 9-12, staying alive in the map. Gods Reign fell at the last step, running into a stacked A-site, as st4rboys take a map off of Gods Reign, to go 1-0 up in the grand-final following a 13-11 win.
Going into Ancient, Gods Reign conceded the pistol round but stole the anti-eco to build a solid lead in the early game until eventually falling to another semi-buy at 6-2. st4rboys' late half briefly looked worrisome for Gods Reign but the Indian team still managed to slide an 8-4 half in their favor.
After losing the initial couple of rounds in the second half, a cheeky Zeus kill from f1redup followed by a clean one-Deag from Rossi, sealed by another one from R2B2 in a 1v1 against sharpshooter gives Gods Reign their first CT-side round on Ancient.
Spamming out Ts through the scaffolding outside Jaguar, a Ph1NNN-3k pushed Gods Reign into double figures nut OSAMAS followed up the next round with a play of his own, taking down Bhavi and Rossi in mid, closing the the gap and levelling the score at 10-10. With over 30 frags in regulation, OSAMAS pushed st4rboys to match point at 12-11, as the Pakistani team stood just a single-round away from wrapping the series.
st4rboys closed out Ancient 13-11, ending Gods Reign's impressive streak of six Dust2 India 1XBET Masters title wins. The 2-0 series saw st4rboys win out the Dust2 India 1XBET Masters 16, becoming the first non-Indian team to win the event.
