Cloud9 reverse sweep Astralis in the Grand Finals

Cloud9 took down Astralis in the Brazy Party 2023 finals to lift what could be their final silverware in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). After getting demolished in the opening map of the finals, Cloud9 managed to turn it around and reverse-sweep the series to secure the championship and took home $133,000 as prize money.

The final kicked off on Astralis' pick of Overpass. Starting on the T side, it was Astralis who secured the pistol and took an early 5-0 lead before Cloud9 put up their first defensive round thanks to a crucial 3-kill hold from HObbit on the B-site. Astralis bounced right back as dev1ce and gla1ve clutched out a crucial 2v3. Astralis managed to turn around a 3v5 to take the lead on the T half and the Danes managed to end the half with a 10-5 lead. Astralis took both the pistol on the map as dev1ce came in with a 3k to kick things off for the Danish team on their CT half. Astralis eventually just ran away with their CT side and the map as the took their map pick 16-5 with blameF topping the scoreboard with 22 kills in 21 rounds!

The Russian AWPer had yet another stellar series

The second map was Cloud9's pick of Vertigo with the Danes starting on the CT half. It was Astralis once again who took the pistol Cloud9 bounced back with a force buy and managed to put together four rounds before Astralis got their second CT round. Cloud9 though ended the first half with the lead as the went into their CT half with 9-6 lead. Cloud9 stole the pistol on the second half and Astralis could managed only one T round as Cloud9 took the final to a third-map after securing Vertigo 16-7. It was Cloud9's go-to guys in sh1ro and Ax1Le who stepped up for their team ending the second map with 19 kills each and both ended with a 1.36 rating.

The final map of the tournament and the series decider got underway on Inferno with Astralis starting on the CT side. The Danes won the pistol and the eco following that but Cloud9 bounced back with six straight rounds before Astralis could reply. The Danes eventually managed to put together a couple of rounds as they managed to head into the second half with a 6-9 deficit. Astralis won the final pistol of the match and quickly managed to tie up the score at 9-9. Once Cloud9 got the guns out, they went on a six round streak as they confirmed six map, match and series points. gla1ve kept Astralis alive with a stunning double-entry on the B-Site but Cloud9 wrapped up the map, series and championship 16-12 with Ax1Le ending the final map on the top of the scoreboard with kills
