IEM Melbourne 2025 playoffs: Preview
The double-elimination brackets across both groups have concluded and the final six teams are locked in for the single-elimination bracket playoffs at IEM Melbourne 2025. The single-elimination bracket ends with a bo5 grand-final to crown the winner. IEM Melbourne 2025 carries a $1,000,000 USD prize pool.
After an opening round win against Complexity in group A, The MongolZ put up a stellar performance against FaZe to confirm their playoffs appearance but however, went down to MOUZ in the upper-final, settling for a quarter-final spot. MOUZ's back to back 2-0s against GamerLegion and The MongolZ after taking down BIG in the opening round fetched them a semi-final spot.
In the lower-bracket of Group A, GamerLegion stunned FaZe, denying them a playoffs spot. GamerLegion put up a 2-0 win in the lower-final. Vitality keep their win streak going as they clear Group B without dropping a single map and taking down FlyQuest, Liquid and Falcons in the process. The new look Falcons have made it to the playoffs after taking down SAW and NAVI in their upper-bracket games.
Liquid grinded it out in the lower-bracket, taking down NAVI 2-0 in the lower-final after sending MIBR home in the lower-semi-final. The playoffs begin tomorrow with GamerLegion taking on Falcons in the first game. The winner of this game locks horns with MOUZ in the semi-final.
The MongolZ will start their playoffs campaign against Liquid in the quarter-final and the winner faces an in-form Vitality in the semi-final. Vitality are currently on a 19-game win streak on LAN and are on a fast approach to level Liquid's record of 23. Vitality are also just a single event win away from the ESL Grand Slam.
