Mindfreak hang on in a grueling encounter
After being delayed by over 24 hours due to technical issues, Mindfreak's game against Vantage at the ESL ANZ Champs 2023 Season 17 Group B upper bracket semi-final finally got underway on Vantage's pick of Overpass.
Mindfreak started with a 7-5 lead on their CT side but Vantage held on against six map points to take the map to overtime with a 12-12 score. Mindfreak eventually hung on by the skin of their teeth and secured the map in second overtime at 19-17 with tucks having a stellar map with 35 kills and an ADR of 109.
Mindfreak's pick of Nuke kicked off with them taking the opening pistol on the T side. It was a neck-and-neck half as neither team were willing to budge at the score was tied at 6-6 at the end of the first half. It was yet another back and forth half as once again we went to overtime after a 12-12 regulation score. Vantage eventually managed to edge out Mindfreak 16-13 to make sure the series wasn't over in two maps.
The series decider was Vertigo as Vantage started off with a pistol win following a B hit. It was a 8-4 lead for Mindfreak at the break. Mindfreak managed to hold on to close Vertigo at 13-10 which saw them edge out the series 2-1.
Mindfreak will now take on DXA in their upcoming game.
