Spirit silence Katowice to make back-to-back Katowice Grand Finals
Team Spirit have kept their hopes of successfully defending their IEM Katowice title alive as donk and co. sent Natus Vincere (NAVI) packing from IEM Katowice 2025 after dealing them a 2-0 loss in a hard-fought semi-final encounter.
NAVI's pick of Mirage started with an absolutely ridiculous quad-kill from donk and Spirit's defence gave no take-off room to NAVI early on as the donk and zont1x duo powered them to a 7-1 lead before a couple of crucial late rounds on the B site helped NAVI end their T side with four rounds. Spirit made sure NAVI had no scope of a comeback as they closed out Mirage at 13-8 with donk and zont1x on top of the scoreboards with 25 and 21 kills each.
Dust2 started with Spirit once again running away to a strong start, going 6-2 up before NAVI woke up late to tie up the half thanks to a jL 1v2 in the final round of the half. The second half started with a trade of rounds before b1t's 1v2 putting NAVI on the path to map point but Spirit hung on against two map points to push the map to overtime. It was Spirit though, making sure that Dust2 was where NAVI ate dust as they secured a 16-14 win in overtime to lock in the series at 2-0 and move into the Grand Finals.
Spirit will now take on Vitality in the Grand Final of IEM Katowice 2025 on February 9, 2025 with a chance to make it back-to-back Katowice titles.
