Gods Reign crash out of PGL Astana Rest of Asia closed qualifier
After taking a 0-2 hammering in the upper-bracket semi-final of the PGL Astana 2025 Rest of Asia Closed Qualifier, Gods Reign headed down to the lower-bracket semi-finals where they faced Eruption and both teams had their backs against elimination. Eruption sent Flshbck home in the first lower-bracket round, after conceding a 0-2 series to HOTU in the qualifier's opening round.
The first map took us to Ancient, one of Gods Reign's stronger maps. The Indian side started with a 1-5 deficit on the T-side but quickly picked up the slack to turn the tables and fetch themselves a 7-5 half. Dropping just three rounds towards the end, Gods Reign comfortably closed out Ancient 13-8 with their IGL Bhavi putting up a 1.81 rating performance, dropping 25 frags at an ADR of 119, complimented by Ph1NNN and R2B2 with 17 and 16 frags a piece.
On Anubis Gods Reign started on the T-side and despite the map's T-sidedness, they struggled to get going as Eruption built up a massive 9-0 lead on their CT-side, with fury5k throwing caution to the wind with his 118 ADR CT-side showing. Gods Reign picked up the last three rounds of the first half but ended up with a 3-9 disadvantage.
Gods Reign's comeback hopes rested on them pulling off the initial rounds in the second half off of the momentum they had built, which did end up getting translated into a four-rounds streak but the climb was too steep as Eruption traded round for round and closed out Anubis 13-8. fury5k finished the map with 27 frags to his name.
The decider took us to Mirage where Gods Reign started on the T-side, winning out the pistol and anti-eco. However, Eruption showed their CT-side dominance once the gun rounds began, keeping Gods Reign's T-side in check with a quick flurry of rounds. Off of a seven rounds streak, Eruption secured a 9-3 half in their favor.
Once the sides switched, Eruption did not drop a single round on their T-side, closing out Mirage 13-3 and wrapping up the series 2-1 to send Gods Reign packing from the PGL Astana 2025 Rest of Asia Closed Qualifier in the lower-bracket semi-final. With Gods Reign's elimination, there are no Indian teams left in the Rest of Asia closed qualifier. Flshbck and VICTORES SUMUS went down with back to back losses earlier.
