Lynn Vision flames VRS
The Valve Regional Standings (VRS) continues to incite frustration and discontent in the Counter-Strike pro scene with the latest grilling coming from Lynn Vision. The Chinese team has been around for a long time and has even represented the Asian region at a Major. Lynn Vision took to X yesterday, letting out their frustration towards the VRS.
Lynn Vision starts by explaining how one slot is allotted to the top teams of each sub-regions under the Asian rankings but the fourth spot would go to the region that's placed at #2 in the Asian rankings. Lynn Vision pointed out that teams climb the VRS ladder by farming points in events that are closed to teams from other regions and this is likely where their discontent arose from.
Most of Lynn Vision's writeup is based around the fourth slot distribution method. Lynn Vision then went on to mention that their game against Rare Atom in the PGL Astana qualifier could potentially lead to lesser Chinese representation at the Major qualifiers. Lynn Vision points out that Rare Atom is currently in strong contention for this #2 spot and could result in more Chinese representation but however, if Lynn Vision won their upcoming game against Rare Atom it could lower their VRS placements, potentially reducing Chinese representation.
... Tomorrow we will face them, if we win China will only get 1 Major slot. (If) we lose, maybe seeing as match fixing. What we shall do?

The Chinese org went to talk about the broader situation in the Asian Counter-Strike scene and how teams completely depend on Major sticker money to keep the lights on. "We won lots of ECL matches but the points will be concluded only after the whole event finished, caused by the rule change relate to GamerLegion’s unfortunate Katowice instance" says Lynn Vision in the same thread.
The Huns also joined the debate questioning about the West Asian/Mongolian region's potential second slot. "The Mongolian/West Asian representative,
The MongolZ has already secured a Stage 3 spot at the next Major. So why should there be a race for the second spot at VRS?" said The Huns while quoting Lynn Vision's writeup.
Elfishguy added to the conversation, mentioning that events like that MESA Asian Masters, DFRAG Invitational or Skyesports Pro League could all be "Top 8 APAC events" with a couple of stages of local qualifiers leading into an invitational stage that brings in eligible teams from the VRS.
I see no world where something like Dfrag Invitational (and the same goes for other mentioned events) SHOULD NOT include Asia based teams, aside from cost. It is good for ANZ teams, they get to play better competition, and good for Asia teams as it gives them the chance to get more VRS points + experience playing internationally.

Elfishguy also mentioned that TOs could be worried about the level of commitment teams show towards their events upon slot allocation, citing that not a lot of teams would be ready or equipped to take on travel and accommodation costs to attend these events if the TO isn't able to arrange the same.
