"I'm retiring from the competitive scene" - KiiLSwitCh

Gods Reign carried over the momentum from a dominant win against Marcos Gaming in the semi-finals and won a clean 2-0 grand finals against Revenant Esports to become the Skyesports Masters 2023 Champions. After the match, we got a chance to talk to KiiLSwitCh from Gods Reign and here's what he had to say about the game, tournament and his plans for the future.

What was the feeling coming into this match?

"We were very excited, because the opponents were really hard to play against. We knew that they would make certain type of plays, which we were ready for. Crazy Gamer and pokemon put in a lot of work to anti-strat them, so I think things panned out well for us today."

Was there a lot of Counter-Strike in those 10-12 hours after your game against Marcos? How was your prep?

"Not a single pug, we didn't play Counter-Strike at all, we just ordered food, watched a movie and chilled. We knew we had a lot of momentum in our favor, from that win against Marcos and it would be an advantage for us today as well. So yeah, not a lot of work, we just discussed our game plan and executed that well."

How was your run in this tournament? Any thoughts about Skyesports Masters 2023, as a whole?

"Skyesports has done a really good job of hosting this tournament, it was very much needed for the betterment of the Counter-Strike scene in India. I'm happy that they're investing so much and so many brands are partnering up, I'm happy that they're paving way for the Indian Counter-Strike scene to become even bigger."

What are your plans going forward from here?

"Its hard to say, but this will be my last competitive Counter-Strike game ever. I'm retiring from the competitive scene, this game has given me a lot that I could've never asked for. I've played for India twice, back to back for two years and playing for the country was the biggest thing in my life. Before going abroad for my studies, winning this tournament has... I don't know, I'm speechless right now. This game has given me a lot and I am really happy that I can leave this country with a big win. I love my teammates, I love my family, I love my friends for supporting me, I'm gonna party really hard tonight."
