CS:GO’s support officially ends today
In its course of 11 years, CS:GO cemented itself as one of the most iconic and celebrated tactical FPS titles of all time. As per an FAQ section in Valve’s initial Counter-Strike 2 release page, the developer support for CS:GO ends today.
The game coordinator and other functions might no longer work as intended. It is highly unlikely that CS:GO receives its own store page like the rest of the Counter-Strike iterations, as its game statistics have already been merged with CS2.
CS:GO can still be launched by opting into the “legacy version” beta and then selecting CS:GO Legacy Version from CS2’s launched. The community stands divided on CS2 after three months of it’s release, pointing out how the game is just a shadow of it’s predecessor in bare bones, cutting out a massive amount of game modes and maps.
With CS:GO’s developer support coming to an end, will there be an influx of content into CS2 in the form of operations, weapon finishes/cases, new maps or game modes? Only time will tell.
