G2 secures Major spot, NIP heads home
G2 became the first team book their spot in the inaugural Counter-Strike 2 Major, the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 after taking down FaZe in their 2-0 match.
G2 started slow on their pick of Anubis with a tied half at 6-6 before coming alive on their T side as NiKo fired up, with G2 taking a 13-8 win. On Ancient, it was FaZe starting with a 7-5 lead but another solid G2 T side saw them secure the 2-0 after a 13-9 win.
The win sees G2 book their spot in Copenhagen but its not over for FaZe yet as they need one more BO3 win to book their Major spot.
While it was elation for G2, it was anything but on the other side as one of Counter-Strike's most legendary organisations, Ninjas in Pyjamas went up against SAW after both of them had lost their games on the opening day of the RMR.
SAW hammered NiP 13-5 on their opponent's pick on Ancient and it was worse on Nuke which saw SAW breeze to a 13-3 win to keep themselves afloat for the Major and knocking NiP out from the RMR and ending their Major dreams.
NiP heads home after losses to Eternal Fire and AMKAL on the opening day and a BO3 loss to SAW today.
