MOUZ extracts revenge in Chengdu
The first semi-final of IEM Chengdu 2024 saw MOUZ take on G2 in a rematch of the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 with MOUZ looking to settle the score and book themselves a Grand Final spot.
It was the Jimpphat and torzsi show as MOUZ started G2's pick of Nuke with a 7-5 lead before a quad from the Finn in the second half pistol saw MOUZ build on their lead. It took an ace and 1v1 from HooXi to get G2 on the board and they were soon within three rounds of MOUZ. 8 though was all G2 could manage as MOUZ closed it out at 13-8 with torzsi and Jimpphat finishing on 24 and 23 kills respectively.
MOUZ turned around a 2-6 deficit to tie up the opening half on Ancient on their T side. huNter-'s quad kill saw G2 turn around a 2v5 against the pistols to put them on map point the G2 closed out Ancient at 13-7 to take the game to Overpass.
m0NESY helped G2 stay alive in the opening half of Overpass at 6-6 with the young Russian coming in with a crucial 1v3 which meant MOUZ didn't take the lead. A quad from huNter- in the second half pistol and a nexa ace against the eco saw G2 start their defensive side strongly before MOUZ got on the board in the first gun round. With the teams trading rounds, it was MOUZ eventually who hung on to shut out G2, securing Overpass at 13-10.
