IEM Cologne 2024 Playoffs: preview

With FaZe's mind numbing comeback from 1-11 against Liquid in the decider, the group stage of IEM Cologne 2024 concluded, finalizing the six teams heading to the playoffs. The first playoff game kicks off at 07:15PM IST on 16th August 2024 with SAW taking on FaZe.

In group A, NAVI put up a 3-0 run, booking their semi-final berth, as upper-bracket finalists SAW start their playoffs journey in the quarter final against FaZe. Despite being knocked down to the lower-bracket in round 1, G2 managed to scrape through and confirm a quarter-final slot.

Wins against FURIA, FaZe and MOUZ saw Vitality qualify to the playoffs off of a flawless run in group B. MOUZ, who conceded the upper-bracket final to Vitality will start in the quarter-final. An electrifying lower-bracket showing from FaZe, earned them a playoffs spot in the quarter-final.

The playoffs will run a single-elimination bo3 bracket where the winner walks away with the lion's share of the $400,000 USD prize pool alongside a coveted IEM Katowice 2025 invite.
