Players to provide Autographs in person at Shanghai Major

Online submissions not accepted anymore

Valve has announced that for the Perfect World Shanghai Major, scheduled for November 11th to 24th, players will need to provide their autographs in person. Previously, players submitted their autographs online, which led to various issues, with delays being the most common.

At the last PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major, some autographs didn’t meet the guidelines, resulting in the stickers being released only after the first stage had concluded, impacting sales negatively.

This new policy also means players won’t be able to submit illustrations. According to the announcement, Valve wants "autograph items that look like what you get when you sign a fan’s mousepad."

The instructions Valve added along with the announcement mentions the following points:

The autograph should look the same as when you are signing a fan’s mousepad. It should not take more than 5-10 seconds for you to produce the autograph. If it takes you longer than that, it is too complicated.

  • It should be written by YOU, and not by someone else. It is ok if your autograph doesn’t look amazing, as long as it is yours! If someone else has produced your autograph on your behalf, we may reject it.

  • These elements in an autograph may cause your submission to be rejected:

  • Computer-generated art

  • Fonts

  • Overly-complicated lettering or drawings (by hand or computer)

  • Anything that could not reasonably be reproduced by hand in 5-10 seconds.
