The MongolZ send Eternal Fire home
The MongolZ's Lower Bracket run at IEM Rio 2024 continued with a showdown against Eternal Fire, dubbed as their rivals by Elfishguy.
The BO3 kicked off on Anubis, picked by Eternal Fire, that ended disastrously for the Turks. The MongolZ left no gaps left in their defences, conceding just a single round on their CT side. And with the lowest fragger on the side of The MongolZ still boasting a 1.39 rating, The MongolZ closed out the map with a 13-2 win.
Second map took us to Mirage, that saw life return to Eternal Fire, as they established an 8-4 lead on their CT half. It was woxic doing the heavy lifting for Eternal Fire, as they managed to push the game to a third map courtesy of a 13-8 victory.
The BO3 boiled down to the decider map, Inferno. Despite anticipation of a close match, it turned into a lopsided dispatch from The MongolZ, who converted an 8-4 half into a 13-4 win on the back of a flawless second half.
