Playoffs begin tomorrow

MOUZ's victory over FaZe earlier today marked the end of IEM Rio's group stage and FaZe's exit from the tournament. All six teams are now locked in for the single-elimination bracket bo3 playoffs starting tomorrow (Friday, 11th October 2024). The grand-final will play out as a bo5.

A flawless run in group A, saw home team FURIA advance straight to the semi-final and in group B's finals, Heroic defied all odds, taking down the current world #3, Vitality in a convincing 2-0 fashion to book their semi-final spot. Runners-up from both the groups- Vitality and NAVI have also qualified for the playoffs but will start in the quarter-finals.

After knocking out Eternal Fire in group B's lower-bracket, Asian representatives at the event, The MongolZ came face to face with Virtus.pro in t he lower-bracket final but fell at the last step, as Virtus.pro booked their quarter-final matchup against NAVI.

The last group-stage match saw MOUZ eliminate FaZe to advance to the playoffs where they will face Vitality in the quarter-final. The bo5 grand-final will take place on Sunday at 11:30PM IST. The winner walks away with a $100,000 USD cash prize and an invite to IEM Katowice 2025.
