Shanghai Major 2024: Asia RMR preview
With the initial phases of the RMR circuit for the upcoming Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major out of the way, the dust has settled and the final set of teams are all set to battle it out in the RMRs at Shanghai for coveted Major spots. Starting on 11th November 2024, the Asia-Pacific RMR will kick things off followed by the Americas RMR and a couple of European RMRs.
When all is said and done, three Asian teams, seven American teams and fourteen European teams will head to the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major. The Asian RMR, featuring eight teams will begin on 11th November 2024 and will go on for three days to determine which three teams get to represent the Asia-Pacific region at the Shanghai Major.
The MongolZ, FlyQuest and Lynn Vision have secured direct invites based on their Valve Regional Standings positions (#1, #2 & #3 in Asia). Five teams have qualified from sub-regional qualifiers. Rare Atom qualified from the Chinese qualifier after putting an end to TYLOO's flawless bracket run in the final and Alter Ego qualified from the Southeast Asian qualifier after taking down Indian team Gods Reign in the final.
Going down into the lower bracket early, Ohne Pixel's competitive Counter-Strike venture DRILLAS, made their way to the RMR from the Middle-Eastern qualifier, while GR posted a flawless East Asian qualifier run to book their RMR spot. From the Oceanic qualifier, returning Counter-Strike org TALON have made it to the Asia-Pacific RMR.

The Asia-Pacific RMR starts with an opening round of bo1 games and will proceed in a double-elimination format. The games switch to a bo3 setting after the first round with the second round in the upper bracket serving as the qualifying round. Two wins straight out the gate will confirm a team's appearance at the Major.
A loss in the first or second round, sends teams into the lower bracket, upon clearing which, a single team books their Major slot, filling the Asia-Pacific quota at the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major. The opening round's matchups were revealed a couple of months back, right after the closed qualifiers concluded.
The MongolZ will go up against Alter Ego, DRILLAS take on Lynn Vision, Rare Atom take on GR Gaming and an Australian derby sees TALON square up against FlyQuest in the opening round.
Once the RMRs run their course, the Perfect World CS2 Shanghai Major 2024 will kick off on 30th November 2024 with the opening stage and will run for over two weeks with the Grand-Final taking place on 15th December 2024.
