A lot of eyes will be on BnTeT and co.

Perfect World Shanghai Major Asia RMR 2024 - Predictions

A couple of renowned names from the AS/OCE region share their thoughts

With the Shanghai Major Asia RMR kicking off from tomorrow, Dust2 India spoke to a couple of the renowned names in the Asian and Oceanic Counter-Strike region and picked their brains about the favourites and more.

Check out what the analysts and talents along with the Dust2 India team think of possibilities at the Asia RMR.

The Favourites

Most of the people had the usual suspects going through as The MongolZ and FlyQuest were the common names on everyone's lips.

TeaTime: The MongolZ, FlyQuest and Rare Atom

Bleh: The MongolZ, FlyQuest, Rare Atom

MacMate: The Mongolz, FlyQuest, DRILLAS

Elfishguy: The MongolZ FlyQuest Rare Atom

Sapporo: DRILLAS, FlyQuest, The MongolZ

Shashank: Heart says The MongolZ, Lynn Vision and Rare Atom but the mind says The MongolZ, FlyQuest and DRILLAS

FURIOUS: My Three favourites to go through the Asia RMR would be The MongolZ,FlyQuest and DRILLAS

AdiC: The MongolZ, FlyQuest and Rare Atom

The overwhelming favourites

The Dark Horse

While the likes of The MongolZ, FlyQuest, Lynn Vision are the common names, when it comes to a surprise team making it through, there were quite a few interesting names thrown out there as the dark horse, who could catch everyone by surprise.

TeaTime: I think GR has a chance to upset, and I'm hoping they do. Most people are discounting them because they're not considering the big buff that GR should be getting on LAN. Honestly, sort of rooting for them; they're one of the few teams that has actually been consistently on the brink but never getting that chance due to ping issues.

Bleh: DRILLAS

MacMate: TALON

Elfishguy: DRILLAS

Sapporo: Alter Ego

Shashank: Alter Ego! They haven't dropped a single map (all their bo3s were 2-0) coming into the RMR, including the open qualifier!

FURIOUS: GR Gaming will be one of the dark horses for the Asian RMR. They have been playing some great CS lately.

AdiC: Alter Ego, have put some faith in BnTeT and XigN!

Who will the spotlight be on?

TeaTime: I'm pretty interested to see which version of kaze and INS turn up. kaze showed us some serious Chinese style AWPing instead of his normal conservative method for a while, but haven't seen it pop in Europe. INS is just generally one the best players not on The Mongolz in this entire event, so will be fun to watch.

Bleh: z4kr

MacMate: meztal (DRILLAS)

Elfishguy: z4kr, (it's) the only way Lynn Vision does anything of relevance

Sapporo: Woro2k

Shashank: Well for me, it will be two players - the aidKiT-XigN combo in Alter Ego!

FURIOUS: mzinho would be the player to lookout for this RMR , since he has been performing and putting up insane numbers. It would be great to see him put up a great show for all of us at the big stage.

AdiC: Got to be ADDICT for me. Really impressive and generally his teams can always count on him, not sure about TALON's chances but will be rooting for ADDICT!

Can BnTeT make it to the Major?

Let down of the Asia RMR?

While The MongolZ, FlyQuest are the favourites, we also asked the analysts about who they thought would fail to get out of the RMR or something that's generally disappointing with TeaTime having an interesting and valid point about DRILLAS participating in the Asia RMR.

Should Woro2k and co. be playing at all in the Asia RMR?

TeaTime: I think the biggest disappointment of the Asia RMR is definitely all the milquetoast analyst takes saying "The MongolZ can make top 16." They're constantly a 10-13 ranked team in the world, what kind of cop out take is that? Either say they're bombing out in top 24 or commit to the Playoffs call. It's such a boring take.

If you want a teams related take then - DRILLAS are the biggest disappointment for sure. More than the fact that they're exploiting the loophole is that Valve has allowed a team with what is now basically a European team. Not only do we lose talent to the European scene for one season, we also see this European majority monstrosity allowed to compete in the 'kiddie pool of Asia.'

Bleh: No TYLOO at the event

MacMate: Remote broadcast but also that TYLOO didn't make it while Lynn Vision were invited

Elfishguy: How can we say till the RMR is over! But TYLOO missing out as well

Sapporo: No Gods Reign

Shashank: Lynn Vision, based on how stale they've looked in the recent past leaving their ECL win

FURIOUS: I feel the biggest disappointment of the Asian RMR would be Lynn Vision.

AdiC: TALON

The Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR kicks off from tomorrow with the 8 teams battling it out in Shanghai to make it to the Major and three will head to the Major while the remaining five head home.
