Excali steps away from esports

Former Indian Counter-Strike pro announces retirement

Well known ex-Counter-Strike pro, Excali has announced his withdrawal from esports, retiring from the competitive gaming space. Excali has been a familiar name in the Indian Counter-Strike scene since 2015 when he made his competitive debut with TradeMarc Gaming.

After a couple of appearances at SoStronk Challenger and SoStronk King of The Hill, Excali's team consistently finished within the top four with one runner-up finish. This was also the time where Team Brutality was on song, winning event after event. In 2016, Excali played with Marzil and Ace under Invictus, taking down Team Brutality in the group stage of the eXTREMESLAND qualifier to book a main event slot where they found very little success.

After his eXTREMESLAND 2016 outing, Excali shifted to Entity eSports where he would go on to spend the rest of his Counter-Strike career. After a year's worth of grinding, Entity eSports found success in 2017 when the team won the COBX Indian Esports Championship 2017 followed by numerous top three finishes at events including ESL India Premiership: Fall 2017 - Master 1, ESL India Premiership: Summer 2017 - Master 1, ESL India Premiership: Summer 2017 - Master 2, ESL India Premiership: Summer 2017 - Master 3, ROG Masters 2017 Asia-Pacific: South Asia and Conquerors Insignia 2017.

After winning multiple Mountian Dew Arena events in 2018 and 2019, Excali's last high profile Counter-Strike event win was recorded in February of 2020 at ESL India Premiership: Winter 2019. This was around the time when the world started succumbing to the COVID-19 pandemic and life moved indoors for a better part of the year as the LAN scene took a massive hit.

It was during this time that Excali made the move to VALORANT where he posted a number of B and C-tier event wins with teams like Reckoning Esports, Velocity Gaming and Enigma Gaming among others. As of today, Excali's decade long esports journey comes to an end as the veteran steps away with one of the most decorated careers in the Indian esports scene.
