Vitality overtake Astralis LAN win streak
After their 2-0 win against Liquid yesterday, not only did Vitality confirm a playoffs spot at IEM Melbourne 2025 but they overtook a six-year old record set by Astralis in 2018-19, now among the top three in an elite list. Vitality now only stand marginally behind Liquid for the #2 spot in the list.
The list we're talking about is the longest win streaks on LAN in Counter-Strike. A colossal 60-0 record tops the list and it belongs to the prime Ninjas in Pyjamas back in 2012. Vitality have been on the climb for a while now, taking down team after team on LAN like second nature. After their win against Liquid yesterday, Vitality upped their win streak to 18, overtaking Astralis's 17-match win streak in 2018.
However, prime Astralis still remains as one of the teams that reset Counter-Strike during their 2017-19 run. Astralis has made four entries in the longest LAN win streaks list. They put up a streak of 12 wins each in 2018 and 2019, then upped their game with win streaks of 14 and 17 matches in 2019.
Vitality are still going and their streak stays hot on the trial. They followed their upper semi-final win with a hard fought upper-final win over Falcons, netting them their 19th consecutive win, just four wins away from breaking Liquid's record of 23 wins in 2019 and placing themselves behind NiP's 60-0 streak at #2. Vitality are also just a single win away from the ESL Grand Slam.
