PGL CEO gives insight into prize structure
Yesterday PGL's CEO Silviu Storie took to X, giving insights into how PGL's $1,250,000 USD prize pools would be distributed at their tier-1 Counter-Strike 2 events. Silviu first points out the prize structure Counter-Strike events have had for the last 7-8 years which involved categorizing the prize money for teams and having a separate "regular prize pool".
"I never really understood why it was structured this way" says Silviu Storie as he goes on to mention that the prize money was assumed to go to the players unless explicitly mentioned otherwise. PGL's CEO then says that they did things differently where all of the awarded prize money based on performance would go straight to the organization in a single payment within two weeks from the event's conclusion.
It’s up to the organizations to decide how they use the money, whether for salaries, team development, recruiting, or operations. There are no complicated structures, no unnecessary requirements, just a fair system.

He then adds to his argument by saying that PGL would not dictate what a team should or should not do with their winnings and at the same time would not force teams to appear at most of their events to be rewarded. Silviu Storie ends his statement by pointing out that he has been playing Counter-Strike since 2000 and claimed that his decisions were only fueled by the potential to push the community forward.
