The MongolZ book a spot at the Spodek
After a historic 2024, The MongolZ have started their 2025 season in style as they have made it to the Playoffs at IEM Katowice 2025 over GamerLegion, after winning the Group B upper bracket semi-final in a clean manner.
GamerLegion's pick of Nuke got underway with bLitz's early ace paving the way for The MongolZ's four-round start on the CT half. A REZ 1v2 gave GamerLegion the hopes of hitting back early but bLitz and Techno shut down the chances of GamerLegion picking up early momentum. The MongolZ were looking at a four-round lead at the end of the half but a couple of costly misses from 910's AWP kept GamerLegion in the game as the Asian team took a two-round lead. REZ's pistol shutdown from Hell saw GamerLegion tie up the pistols and tied up the game but The MongolZ pristine gun rounds saw them run away with a 13-10 win with their captain bLtiz on top of the scoreboard with 22 kills.
Mirage saw The MongolZ's T side run havoc on both sites with ease as they picked up eight T rounds to get things going. There was little resistance from GamerLegion on their T side as The MongolZ eased to a 13-5 win to lock in the series 2-0 and book themselves a Playoffs spot at IEM Katowice 2025.
The MongolZ's win sees them become the third team to book their place in the Playoffs of IEM Katowice 2025 after Vitality and Virtus.pro. GamerLegion meanwhile aren't out of contention for a spot at the Spodek, as they drop to the Lower Bracket.
