CS2 sets new concurrent players record

The all-time high set by CS:GO still stands

Yesterday, a spike in Steam Charts showed that Counter-Strike 2 hit a new peak concurrent concurrent players high at 1,743,553 players. However, the all-time high set by CS:GO in May 2023 at 1,802,853 still stands. CS:GO saw a massive influx of returning players in mid 2023 due to the Counter-Strike 2 hype.

While Counter-Strike hit it's public release in an abysmal state, the developers have released regular updates, patching game-breaking bugs and fixing crucial gameplay mechanics. Still, Counter-Strike 2 misses many game modes that were a part of CS:GO. Counter-Strike 2 has also had minimal updates in terms of content, barring map changes once in a while.

The player numbers comes as a surprise given the game's lack of content. While some attribute it to the infamous case farms others believe it could be an influx of legit players due to the hype IEM Katowice created early in the year.
