Cloud9 shuts down the Hounds
Cloud9 made short work of Grayhound in their opening match of IEM Dallas 2023 as the defending champions took down the Australians 16-2 on Ancient.
The final best-of-one saw Grayhound and Cloud9 kick things off on Ancient with the team from Down Under starting on the T side. sh1ro's double saw Cloud9 take the first pistol and Ax1Le's triple against the full eco saw Cloud9 go 2-0 up. Cloud9 won the first gun round, which was a bonus round for them, as they kept their defensive half clean. Ax1Le's triple on round five saw them take an early 5-0 lead, with Grayhound failing to even plant the bomb in the opening five rounds. sh1ro and buster stole a 2v4 on the A site as Cloud9 won the half inside eight rounds, taking a 8-0 lead.
sh1ro's triple in round ten, saw Cloud9 go 10-0 as Grayhound seemed to be clueless about what was hitting them. Ax1Le's 1v1 against Vexite saw Cloud9 convert a 2v3 to keep their CT run flawless. INS denied sh1ro a 1v3 to give Cloud9 their first T round. Ax1Le's quad kill on the A site saw Cloud9 secure 12 as they ended the first half with a whopping 13-2 lead.
Cloud9 secured both pistols of the map as they won the T sided pistol to secure 14. Cloud9 secured map point, turning around a 3v4 against the force buy and closed out the map at 16-2. For Cloud9 it was sh1ro and Ax1Le leading the scoreboard with 21 and 20 kills respectively.
