OG eliminate 9z from IEM Dallas
9z's massive upset over Fnatic led to the international squad's elimination and put try's team in a lower-bracket match against OG. Despite the Fnatic result, OG walked into the match as the favourites, looking for a clean 2-0 win.
Starting off on Ancient, 9z came out ahead in the pistol racking up a quick set of rounds, but niko's Deagle gave OG their first, and there was no looking back after that for the defence. With every single player fragging out, the team ended the half with 11 on the board. dgt's defusal right in front of regali's p250 gave 9z an essential pistol win, but they were unable to capitalise as OG's forcebuy bore fruit on the A site.
9z's own forebuy also netted a win, propelling their defence into double digits. And the onslaught from the defence continued with try and dgt combining for over 30 kills to tie the game 12-12. OG's lack of an IGL showed as their T side failed to get any traction until regali pulled out a 1v2 clutch to deny matchpoint and push OG to a tied game.
Now neck and neck, 9z managed to secure match point, ensuring overtime at a minimum on their map pick. And with NEOFRAG's final AK bullets, the game moved into OT. OG's attack finally found its footing, setting them up with a 17-16 lead going into the second half. OG secured matchpoint, and F1KU's B site defence locked in the win as regali dropped 40 frags on the map.
Pistol round on Mirage went the way of OG, and they converted it into a streak of 4 thanks to a niko 1v2. buda and dgt's doubles on the B site defence and try's triple on A helped 9z eke out a lead at 8-7. 9z picked up their 3rd pistol round in the series but were unable to convert, allowing OG to take the lead. The back and forth continued as the teams were once again tied up at 12-12. Thanks to niko's A site flank and flameZ's trade onto try, OG secured matchpoint. And the team quickly closed the game out 16-12 to set up match against MOUZ in the lower bracket final. Meanwhile 9z are sent home after a mixed bag set of results at IEM Dallas.
