FaZe secures Group C final berth over G2

FaZe sends G2 to the knockout stage, after defeating them 2-0 on Nuke and Mirage.

The clash between the 3rd and 4th best teams in the world promised an exciting and highly anticipated match, as both sought to secure a spot in the Group Finals. FaZe opted for Mirage, building on their previous success in Dallas, while G2 put their trust in Nuke, a map that has served as a strong foothold for them against FaZe. The deciding map was set to be Inferno, where the final outcome would be determined.

Nuke kicked off in an extremely intense fashion, with both teams exchanging rounds during the initial 6 rounds. When the dust settled, FaZe eventually came out on top, as they put a stop to the back-and-forth affair, courtesy of a triple kill from Twistzz. A standout round from NiKo, where he clinched a 1v3 was the only other round G2 could manage in the half, as it came to a close with FaZe holding a commanding 11-4 lead.

G2 started on the right foot in the second half, acquiring the pistol win and denying any force buy shenanigans, narrowing the score to 11-7. In an effort to disrupt FaZe's rhythm as the rifles rolled out for FaZe, G2 decided to through aggression on two consecutive rounds. Prepared for the aggression, FaZe capitalized on key openings, enabling them to secure crucial rounds. FaZe swiftly regained their momentum, just as they did in the first half, ultimately closing out the game with a commanding 16-7 victory. ropz scored a sensational 1.55 rating on the map, sealing the game's fate with a jaw-dropping 1v2 post-plant clutch.

ropz picked up right where he left off on Mirage, showcasing an impressive 14-2 KD in the opening 6 rounds, propelling FaZe to an impressive 6-0 lead. The team clearly focused their efforts on the B bombsite, which proved to be a successful strategy initially. However, after encountering some resistance and being thwarted a couple of times, they decided to explore the A bombsite. Thanks to the strong defensive efforts of Jks and NiKo, G2 managed to make a recovery, bringing the halftime score to 9-6.

After securing the pistol round through a clever A fake called by HooXi, G2 managed to survive a scare after broky got 4 inconceivable headshots with his desert eagle. With karrigan struggling to find form, and with ropz grappling to hold the connector, G2 managed to convert a lot of successful rounds. However, it was Twistzz on FaZe's side who emerged as the game-changer. In a nail-biting match that grew increasingly intense, FaZe managed to edge ahead and ultimately close it out towards the end with a scoreline of 16-11.
